About Us
What began in 1925 as a cable sales business run by Marit's great-grandfather is now a specialist shop for sewing and embroidery machines – and passionate about it. It was never actually planned. But when Marit and Mark started machine embroidery themselves, it quickly became clear: the gap in sound advice and genuine expertise was too great to ignore.
While specialist shops elsewhere are disappearing (often due to age), we're expanding. With a small, well-coordinated team that loves technology, takes consulting seriously, and works on makema.de every day. We don't stand still – we listen, test ourselves, and make complicated things simple.

Our story
1925
Founding
Marit's great-grandfather Willi Heinen was transferred to Hamburg at the age of 21 to manage the newly founded cable distribution company.
Previously, he had made a name for himself as a young errand boy at the Duisburg cable factory.
1978
