BERNINA Appliqué Foot #23

The BERNINA Appliqué Foot #23 combines a transparent sole with a specially designed thread guide and a recess for inserting guide threads. This ensures that the sewing area remains clearly visible, while densely sewn stitches can be precisely guided over the material. The foot is particularly suitable for fine appliqués with narrow satin stitches and facilitates clean work along edges, corners, and curved lines. At the same time, it expands creative possibilities for decorative stitching, mini piping, and traditional sewing techniques.

Attach the BERNINA Appliqué Foot #23 to the compatible sewing machine and select a narrow caterpillar stitch or satin stitch. For an even result, the appliqué should first be secured to the base fabric, for example, with Vliesofix, fabric glue, or a temporary seam. Then, slowly and carefully sew around the fabric edge with the caterpillar stitch.

The transparent sole helps with precise guiding along contours, curves, and corners. In tight curves, it is advisable to stop with the needle lowered, slightly lift the presser foot, and turn the fabric in the desired direction. If a couching thread or a narrow ribbon is to be sewn along, it is threaded through the front opening of the foot and secured together with the caterpillar stitch. For particularly dense stitches, fine fabrics, or stretchy materials, a suitable embroidery or tear-away stabilizer can provide additional stability.
