At its heart is the BERNINA Hook. It operates quietly, precisely, and ensures a consistent stitch pattern – even at higher speeds and with challenging materials. The jumbo bobbin offers up to 70% more thread capacity than a standard bobbin, allowing you to sew longer without constantly changing the bobbin thread. Particularly convenient: the bobbin is easily inserted and changed from the front.

With up to 900 stitches per minute, 177.7 mm of space to the right of the needle, and a maximum stitch width of 9 mm, the B 480 offers plenty of room for creative projects – from clothing and home accessories to quilts and decorative seams. The colored 4.3-inch touchscreen is centrally located and makes operation clear. Stitches can be selected, adjusted, combined, and saved directly.

For clean results on different fabrics, the manually adjustable presser foot pressure is a great advantage. Fine fabrics, jersey, thicker materials, or multiple layers can be better controlled because the pressure can be adjusted to suit the material. This is complemented by the adaptive BERNINA thread tension, which is monitored and automatically adjusted during sewing after the basic setting.

The B 480 is also well-equipped in terms of comfort: The automatic thread cutter cuts the upper and lower threads at the touch of a button. The BERNINA Free-Hand System with knee lifter raises the presser foot, lowers the feed dog, and keeps your hands on the fabric – particularly practical for curves, corners, appliqués, and larger projects. Additionally, the machine is BSR-ready; the BERNINA Stitch Regulator is optionally available and supports free-motion quilting with consistent stitch lengths.
