The BERNINA L 450 brings professional overlock seams to your sewing area. It sews, cuts, and finishes fabric edges in one step and complements your sewing machine wherever elastic, durable, or particularly cleanly finished seams are required. Whether it's a jersey shirt, a sweat hoodie, a fine blouse, underwear, home textiles, or creative accessories: with the L 450, your projects look just as neat on the inside as they do on the outside.
As a 2-, 3-, and 4-thread overlocker, it offers you 16 different stitch variations for robust connecting seams, quick edgings, elastic seams, flat seams, and fine rolled hems. The 4-thread overlock stitch connects fabric layers stably and flexibly, while 3-thread stitches are ideal for edge finishes and decorative applications. For fine fabrics, lingerie, or light edges, 2-thread stitches and rolled hem variations are also available.
An important feature is the patented mtc thread control. It allows you to finely adjust the amount of looper thread so that the fabric edge is cleanly and evenly enclosed by the threads. Especially when changing fabric thicknesses or adjusting the cutting width, this setting helps you quickly achieve a harmonious seam appearance.
Elastic and fine fabrics can also be processed in a controlled manner. The differential feed helps you sew jersey without waves or finish light woven fabrics without unwanted puckering. If you want to deliberately gather fabric, you can also use the feed for this. Stitch length, cutting width, differential feed, and thread tension are easily accessible and adjustable during sewing.
When threading, color-coded paths, a threading diagram in the looper area, and the lower looper threading aid provide orientation. Two LED lights illuminate the needle and looper area brightly and comfortably. Practical details such as the integrated thread cutter, the tension release when lifting the presser foot, and the accessory compartment in the looper cover make daily work easier.
With up to 1,200 stitches per minute, the BERNINA L 450 works quickly and controllably. The electronic foot control supports consistent piercing power from slow to fast sewing. For multi-layered materials, the two-level presser foot lifter provides additional space under the foot. This results in an overlocker designed for precise results, enabling clean processing for clothing, accessories, and home textiles.
Characteristics
The BERNINA L 450 combines solid overlock features with pleasantly clear operation. Its mtc thread control makes it easy to precisely adjust the looper threads to the fabric edge, so that the seam finishes evenly. The differential feed helps prevent waving in jersey and unwanted puckering in delicate woven fabrics. For creative applications, it can also be used specifically for gathering.
Colour-coded threading paths, a clear threading diagram, and the lower looper threading aid make the thread paths easy to follow. Two LED lights ensure good visibility in the needle and looper area. The presser foot pressure can be adjusted to different materials, while the two-step presser foot lifter creates more space for thicker fabric layers. The upper knife can be disengaged if necessary, for example for techniques without fabric trimming. Accessories and important tools find their place directly in or on the looper area.
Application
The BERNINA L 450 is designed for simultaneous sewing, cutting, and finishing of fabric edges. It is particularly suitable for jersey, sweat, knitted fabrics, wovens, lingerie fabrics, delicate materials, and multi-layered textiles. With the 4-thread overlock stitch, you can sew strong seams, for example for clothing or home textiles. 3-thread stitches are suitable for finishing, decorative edges, and flat seams. Delicate fabrics, transparent materials, and light edges can be neatly processed with rolled hem and rolled seam variations.
The L 450 complements a classic sewing machine well, but does not completely replace it. It does not sew coverstitches or chain stitches and is therefore not intended for typical T-shirt hems with a coverstitch.

Du suchst die beste Qualität, Freiarm und den besten Support? Dann bist du mit der Bernina B500 bei Make ma perfekt aufgehoben. Ich hatte vorab wirklich 1 Mio. Fragen, dass es mir schon fast peinlich war. Aber Marit hat alle Fragen vorab beantwortet. Ursprünglich wollte ich die Bernette B70 haben, aber die Vorteile vom Freiarm, die intuitive Bedienung machen die schöne Maschine für mich perfekt. Ich würde gerne mehr Sterne geben, weil ihr einfach sehr modern seid!! Davon können scih andere noch eine Scheibe abschneiden, so viel verstaubte Geschäfte da draußen.
Ich bin total happy mit der Brother Celeste Stickmaschine. Besonders die Zwei-Punkt-Positionierung ist für mich ein echtes Highlight – damit lässt sich das Motiv viel genauer platzieren, was im Alltag einfach super hilfreich ist.
Vor dem Kauf wurde ich vom Team von Makema.de richtig gut beraten. Alle meine Fragen wurden geduldig beantwortet, sodass ich ein sehr gutes Gefühl hatte. Am Ende habe ich die Maschine sogar direkt vor Ort abgeholt, weil ich das Schätzchen unbedingt sofort mitnehmen wollte.
Seit inzwischen 6 Wochen ist sie bei mir im Einsatz und ich bin immer noch begeistert: Sie stickt leise, schnell und sehr sauber. Für mich bisher eine richtig gute Entscheidung.
Die Brother F580 als kombinierte Näh- und Stickmaschine ist einfach genial. Sehr schnell umgebaut, einfach in der Bedienung und ein wirklich(!) sehr ruhiges Nähen. Super!
Nachdem ich von der Singer SE auf die Bernina gewechselt bin, hatte ich erst ein paar Bedenken. Aber jetzt möchte ich die Bernina nicht mehr missen! Bin super zufrieden!
