The BERNINA L 620 is designed for anyone who wants to give their self-sewn garments a professional finish. As a pure coverstitch and chainstitch machine, it focuses on precisely those seams that make all the difference in T-shirts, sweatshirts, leggings, underwear, sportswear, and home textiles: elastic hems, clean bindings, decorative topstitching, and durable joining seams.

With its seven stitch variations, it offers coverstitches with three or four threads as well as chainstitches with two threads. This allows you to sew hems that stretch with the fabric without tearing, secure edges with elastic or lace, and deliberately use visible seams as a design element. The chainstitch is also suitable for strong seams, topstitching, appliqué, and basting.

Starting each project is particularly pleasant. The illuminated One-Step BERNINA Air Threader threads the looper threads with air. You operate the threader via the foot control, leaving both hands free to position the threads correctly. The integrated needle threader then simplifies threading the needles. Uniform, color-coded threading paths also provide guidance.

The work area is generously designed and offers plenty of space for your sewing projects. With the included slide-on table, even a shirt, dress, or sweatshirt lies comfortably. The matching coverstitch insert with guide lines helps you sew hems and bindings evenly along the edge.

The BERNINA Free Hand System with knee lever brings a level of comfort that is quickly appreciated, especially with frequent fabric changes and multi-layered projects. You raise or lower the presser foot via the knee lever and simultaneously lower the feed dog. This makes it easier to position or remove the fabric under the foot, while both hands remain free.

You also maintain control while sewing. The powerful DC motor operates pleasantly quietly and can be finely controlled via the foot control. You can work slowly and precisely stitch by stitch or sew quickly for long hems. The desired needle stop position can be programmed, the speed regulator limits the pace if necessary, and the dimmable sewing light ensures good visibility of the needle area.

It is aimed at anyone who regularly processes jersey, sweat, sports fabrics, or elastic materials and values a clean, durable, and professional finish for their projects.

The BERNINA Free-Hand System with knee lifter ensures precise work. This allows you to raise or lower the presser foot, while the feed dog is lowered for more space. This is particularly practical when positioning thick layers of fabric, sewing curves, or when you want to quickly remove a project from under the presser foot.

The swing-out presser foot provides clear access to needles and threads. A two-step presser foot lifter makes it easier to insert multi-layered materials. The needle position can be moved up or down via the BERNINA foot control and programmed for the respective project.

Stitch length, differential feed, thread tension, and presser foot pressure can be adjusted to match the fabric. The speed regulator helps with controlled sewing, while the dimmable sewing light reliably illuminates the work area. With the slide-on table and the appropriate coverstitch insert, you get a large, clear surface for hems, bindings, and long seams.

Additional comfort is provided by the magnetic all-in-one looper cover, the presser foot lift with a total clearance of 8 mm (6 + 2 mm), and the needle holder screw safety plate. The quiet DC motor enables controlled sewing from 250 to 1,200 stitches per minute. Accessories from the BERNINA L 6 and L 8 series are generally compatible. Coverstitch feet like #C12 and #C13 can be used on the L 620; combo stitch feet like #C11 or #C14 are not compatible. The decorative thread spool holder 1099307000 and the upper accessory holder 1098967000 are available as L-6-specific accessories.

The BERNINA L 620 is suitable for elastic hems, bindings, topstitching, and decorative details on jersey, sweat, interlock, rib knit, athletic fabrics, and many other stretch materials. It is ideal for T-shirts, hoodies, leggings, underwear, swimwear and activewear, children's clothing, and home textiles.

With the 3- or 4-thread coverstitch, you can sew elastic hems that stretch comfortably with the fabric. The chainstitch is a good choice for durable seams, topstitching, appliqués, or temporary basting. The differential feed allows you to adjust the fabric transport and prevent unwanted waves or puckering on jersey and delicate fabrics. If you want to gather specifically, the effect can also be adjusted.

For good results, a fabric sample with the original material, the thread to be used later, and the appropriate needle is recommended. This way, you can optimally adjust thread tension, differential feed, stitch length, and presser foot pressure to your project.
