GUNOLD STIFFY 1950 is a heavy cut-away nonwoven with 80 g/m² for sturdy fabrics and demanding embroideries. It reliably stabilizes heavy denim and jacket fabrics, caps, car mats, horse blankets, and sturdy decorative fabrics during embroidery. After completion, the excess nonwoven is trimmed along the motif. The material remaining in the motif provides lasting stability and a high-quality embroidery finish. Available as a 50 cm × 25 m roll in white or black.

Application

First, cut GUNOLD STIFFY 1950 slightly larger than the embroidery hoop being used. Place the non-woven fabric under the textile and hoop both materials together tightly and wrinkle-free. Make sure that the textile is sufficiently stabilized during embroidery and cannot shift within the hoop.

Then, embroider the desired motif. After completing the embroidery process, remove the hoop and take out the textile. Turn the project to the wrong side of the fabric and carefully trim the excess non-woven fabric along the edge of the motif with suitable scissors. Leave a small non-woven fabric margin and make sure not to damage either the fabric or the embroidery threads. The non-woven fabric remaining within the motif provides lasting additional stability.
