How it works

Create piping from fabric

1. Attach the Maxi Piping Foot to the right of the needle.
2. Cut strips of fabric diagonally or across the grain. The strips must be wide enough to accommodate the cord plus seam allowance.
3. Place the cord on the wrong side of the fabric strip and wrap the fabric around the cord.
4. Place the fabric and cord under the Maxi Piping Foot and position the cord to the left of the presser foot.
   5. Select straight stitch, needle position left. Now sew.

Note: If you want to decorate a garment with this piping, adjust the needle position so that the second row of stitches is sewn one setting closer to the cord to cover the first seam.

How it works

Sew in piping

1. Attach the Maxi Piping Foot to the right of the needle.
2. Pin the piping to the seam line on the right side of the fabric and sew so that the piping is to the left of the presser foot.
3. Place the second piece of fabric right sides together on top.
4. Place the fabric and piping layers under the Maxi Piping Foot and position the cord to the left of the presser foot.
5. Select straight stitch, needle position left. Now sew.

Tip: Trim the seam allowance of the piping at the corners. This will help the piping fit snugly.

Topstitch: Place the piping along the edge of the fabric. Iron over it. Topstitch next to the piping with a straight stitch.
