Sulky Patch Base is a high-quality, non-adhesive backing material for machine embroidery of patches and appliqués. The tear-resistant special fleece is warp-free and retains its shape even at high stitch counts. It is ideal for use with iron-on adhesive films such as SULKY BSN, or for further processing with spray adhesive, hook-and-loop fasteners, or for edging with an overlock.

The patch base provides an ideal foundation, especially for creative patch design—e.g., for logos, DIY patches, or personalized gifts. The material can also be reliably processed in small businesses or for mass production. The sheets are easy to embroider, cut with scissors or a cutting plotter, and then further processed.

Application
  1. Embroider the patch motif directly onto the patch base (with stabilizer underneath).
  2. After embroidering, cut out the motif neatly (e.g. with scissors or a plotter).
  3. The back can be covered with BSN foil, Velcro or spray adhesive as desired.
  4. Iron or sew onto the desired textile.

How do I attach the finished patch to clothing?

For example, you can iron on SULKY BSN foil, sew on the patch, or attach it with Velcro – depending on your project.

Do I need to use additional stabilizer?

The fabric of the patch base is so sturdy that you don't need any additional stabilizer. To embroider freestanding patches, we clamp Ultra Solvy into the embroidery frame and stitch the patch base onto it. After the motif is applied, the embroidery machine stitches the edge with a flat stitch, so the finished patch pops right off the fabric.

Is the patch base washable?

Yes, in combination with the right processing (e.g. neat edging and ironing) it can be washed without any problems.
