• A thread of a different color, about 2 m long, that can be easily unraveled later, e.g., a cotton thread.

  Alternatively: 3.5 mm knitting needles, such as Neko Bamboo Flex or Trios (knitters who knit tightly may use 3.75 mm)
• 3 needles from a 3.5 mm needle set
