Beautiful embroidery doesn't just start with the machine, but often with the accessories. The right embroidery machine accessories ensure greater precision, less frustration, and a much more relaxed process. In this post, we show you the products we consistently recommend in everyday use — from embroidery fleece and embroidery thread to embroidery needles and practical accessories for more order and comfort.

Anyone who works with an embroidery machine quickly realizes that it's not just the machine that determines a clean result. The right embroidery machine accessories often make the biggest difference in everyday use. From embroidery stabilizer to embroidery needles to suitable embroidery thread, there are a few products that we truly recommend to almost everyone who starts machine embroidery with us.

1. Bobbin Boats for more order with bobbins

An often underestimated accessory for embroidery machines are practical bobbin organizers. Bobbin Boats bring structure to your bobbins, prevent them from unwinding loosely, and help you find colors faster. Especially if you embroider regularly, this saves time and nerves.

2. Marking pens for the exact placement of your embroidery

If you want to position motifs cleanly, marking pens are extremely helpful. Especially on clothing, bags, or home textiles, you can pre-mark where your embroidery should be placed. Depending on the fabric, water-soluble or heat-removable variants are suitable. This makes hooping much more precise.

3. Crepe tape: a small helper with a big impact

Crepe tape is an accessory that seems inconspicuous but is extremely helpful in practice. It can temporarily fix fabrics and, above all, prevents embroidery stabilizer from slipping when hooped. If you first fix the stabilizer to the hoop and then hoop the fabric, working becomes much more relaxed.

4. Good embroidery needles for smooth thread feeding

Embroidery needles are among the most important basics in machine embroidery. For many projects, we recommend 75 Embroidery needles with a rounded tip and a larger needle eye. This promotes smoother thread feeding and protects both material and thread. For thicker fabrics like jeans, more robust needles are useful.

5. Embroidery thread with reliable quality

Without good embroidery thread, even the best embroidery machine won't reach its full potential. We like to work with 40-weight embroidery threads, for example from Gunold or Sulky, because they offer a wide range of colors and are reliably easy to process. We can also recommend embroidery threads from Madeira. Especially for creative projects, it's important that the material selection doesn't limit you.

6. External thread stand for more consistent results

For us, a thread stand is one of the most useful accessories for embroidery machines. The longer thread path helps the thread relax better before processing. This can contribute to smoother running and a cleaner embroidery image, especially with larger cones.

Bonus: The right embroidery scissors for everyday use

It should almost be part of every basic equipment: a double-curved embroidery scissors. With it, you can cut small threads directly in the hooped frame without removing the fabric. This is much more comfortable, especially during the ongoing work process.

All products can be found here online at makema.de or directly in our specialty store in Hamburg.
