BERNINA L 650 Overlock

The BERNINA L 650 produces professional overlock seams, edge finishes, and decorative effects with two, three, or four threads. It trims the fabric edge if necessary, neatly finishes it, and simultaneously sews a durable seam. Especially for garments made from jersey, sweatshirt fabric, knits, or elastic materials, it ensures a comfortable result that looks high-quality even on the inside.

The focus is on the One-Step BERNINA Air Threader for the looper threads. You place the threads into the designated threading openings and activate the air threader via the foot control. The looper threads are drawn in by air, making rethreading noticeably easier. Color-coded and uniform threading paths also help you keep track quickly.

For convenient access to the needle area, the presser foot can be swiveled out to the side. This facilitates threading, needle changes, and placing the threads under the foot. When you lower the presser foot again, it automatically swivels back into its working position. The two-step presser foot lifter also creates space for thicker layers of fabric or multiple layers of material.

The mtc thread control allows for particularly precise fine-tuning of the overedge threads at the fabric edge. This ensures that the edges are neatly enclosed without too much thread protruding or the edge appearing uneven. Stitch length, differential feed, cutting width, and thread tension can be adjusted to match the fabric and thread – even while sewing.

The differential feed helps you process stretchy fabrics smoothly and reduce waviness. For fine woven fabrics, it prevents unwanted puckering. At the same time, you can deliberately use the effect to create ruffles, wavy hems, or decorative gathers.

The upper knife can be activated or deactivated directly from the outside. This allows you to freely decide whether the fabric edge should be trimmed while sewing or if you want to work without cutting the fabric. The integrated upper looper cover also enables easy switching to 2-thread stitches.

The powerful DC motor combines high needle penetration power with quiet operation. This makes the L 650 suitable for fine fabrics as well as multi-layer projects made from sweatshirt fabric, fleece, denim, or firmer woven fabrics. Via the foot control, you can sew stitch by stitch in a controlled manner or at high speed when longer seams need to be completed quickly.
