The BERNINA L 660 is a comfortable overlock machine for anyone who wants to sew clothes and home textiles with a clean, professional finish. It cuts, sews, and finishes fabric edges in one step, making it the ideal complement to a household sewing machine. Especially with jersey, sweat, knits, activewear fabrics, fine wovens, or multi-layered materials, it ensures strong seams, elastic edges, and a result that looks as neat on the inside as it does on the outside.

The focus is on sewing comfort, which simplifies many typical overlock operations. The illuminated One-Step BERNINA Air Threader threads the looper threads via foot control. The loopers can be threaded in any order – practical if you're changing colors or want to set up a new stitch. An integrated needle threader, a swing-out presser foot, and clearly color-coded threading paths ensure that setting up the machine remains straightforward.

With the integrated BERNINA Free Hand System, you control the presser foot via the knee lever. This keeps both hands on the fabric, for example, when precisely guiding curves, sewing over transitions, or positioning multi-layered projects. When the presser foot is raised, the feed dog simultaneously lowers. This creates additional space under the presser foot and makes it easier to insert or remove the fabric.

The BERNINA L 660 offers 18 overlock stitches with two, three, or four threads. These include strong 4-thread overlock seams, elastic super stretch seams, flat seams, rolled hems, rolled seams, picot stitches, and various edge finishes. This allows you to neatly process T-shirts, leggings, children's clothing, lingerie, activewear, light blouse fabrics, sweatshirts, bag projects, and home textiles, or create decorative edges.

The mtc thread control ensures a particularly even stitch pattern. It allows for fine adjustment of the looper threads so that the fabric edge is neatly and precisely wrapped. Stitch length, differential feed, cutting width, and thread tension can be adjusted directly on the machine and even during sewing if necessary. The differential feed helps you sew jersey without waves, guide fine fabrics smoothly, or create gathers intentionally.

The L 660 also impresses with well-thought-out details in daily use. The upper knife can be activated or deactivated from the outside if you want to sew a seam without trimming the fabric. The programmable needle stop supports you in precise work on corners and curves. Via the speed regulator, you decide whether you sew stitch by stitch or at high speed. The dimmable sewing light illuminates the work area pleasantly brightly, while the included extension table also provides stable support for larger projects.

The BERNINA L 660 is aimed at ambitious hobby sewers who frequently sew clothes and are looking for an overlock machine with noticeably higher comfort. It is not a coverstitch machine: for typical T-shirt hems with coverstitch, you will also need a coverstitch machine like the BERNINA L 620 or a combo machine like the BERNINA L 890.

The BERNINA L 660 combines direct, mechanically understandable operation with comfort functions that make overlocking much more relaxed. The illuminated One-Step BERNINA Air Threader draws the looper threads in via foot control, while the integrated needle threader makes threading the needles easier. Uniform, color-coded threading paths provide clear guidance for every stitch.

The BERNINA Free Hand System with knee lift creates space for guiding the fabric. You can raise or lower the presser foot without having to take your hands off the project. At the same time, the feed dog lowers, allowing multi-layered or delicate fabrics to be positioned more comfortably under the presser foot. The swing-out presser foot also provides good access for threading, changing needles, and positioning threads.

With the mtc thread control, you can precisely regulate the amount of loop thread and achieve clean, even edge finishes. Thread tension, stitch length, differential feed, and cutting width can be adjusted to suit the fabric and thread. The knife can be switched on or off from the outside. For more control, a programmable needle stop, a speed regulator, and a bright, dimmable sewing light are available. The free-arm extension table extends the sewing surface and makes it easier to sew larger or heavier projects.

The integrated upper looper cover facilitates switching to two-thread stitches, and the magnetic accessory holder keeps important tools within reach. The presser foot lift offers a total of 8 mm clearance (6 + 2 mm), while the quiet DC motor enables 250 to 1,200 stitches per minute. Accessories from the BERNINA L 6 and L 8 series are generally compatible. The decorative thread spool holder 1099307000 and the upper accessory holder 1098967000 are available as L-6-specific accessories.

The BERNINA L 660 is designed for cutting, sewing, and finishing textiles in private sewing. It is particularly suitable for stretchy fabrics such as jersey, sweat, knits, and activewear, but also handles woven fabrics, fleece, denim, fine silk, or satin. Depending on the project, you can sew with two, three, or four threads. The 4-thread overlock stitch is suitable for durable, elastic seams. Three-thread stitches are ideal for serging, rolled hems, flatlock seams, or decorative edges. With differential feed, you can prevent unwanted waving in jersey or create intentional gathers. For seams without fabric trimming, you can deactivate the upper knife directly on the machine.
