Intarsia knitting in the round

The intarsia technique is used when different colored areas are knitted in a single piece. A separate ball of wool is required for each colored area. When changing colors, the individual areas must be joined together.

When knitting a section, the yarn ends at the end of the colored section. The next colored section is worked. If you knit in rows, the working yarn automatically returns to the beginning of a colored section in the wrong rows. However, if you work in rounds, the working yarn will still be at the end of the colored section in the next round. Therefore, continuing to knit in this way is not possible. But it is possible, and I'd like to explain how to do it with the ImmiSocks.

The ImmiSocks get their unusual look from a different colored stripe of 16 stitches with an offset cable pattern on both outer sides of the sock.

For the heel, I chose the Shadow Wrap heel, a special type of boomerang heel. The potential problems of holes, which sometimes occur with boomerang heels, don't occur with these.

The toe on the ImmiSocks is the popular sling star toe, which is particularly easy to knit with double-pointed needles. It fits well and is very durable.
