With the Creative embroidery software from Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking, you can not only position lettering individually, but also precisely arrange it in a circle or distort it in perspective. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to use both functions effectively.

1. Requirements and versions

The text deformation function is available in the following versions of the Creative software:

  • Pfaff Premier+2 / mySewnet / Creativate (Essential, Extra, Elite)
  • Husqvarna Viking Premier+2 / mySewnet / Creativate

You need at least the Extra version to arrange text on curves or in arcs. The Elite version offers additional effects such as perspective distortion or shadow effects.

Embroidery software Creativate (formerly mySewnet) Insert font
In the embroidery software Creativate you have a large selection of embroidery fonts that can be individually designed.

2. Arrange the text in a circle

To place text along an arc:

  1. Open a new embroidery project
  2. Select the Text tool
  3. Enter your desired text
  4. In the Text menu, switch to the option “Line type” > “Circle” or “Arc”
  5. Use the mouse to draw a circle or arc to which the text will be aligned
  6. Adjust alignment, spacing, inner or outer curve in the properties window
  7. Confirm with OK

Tip: Use the “Flip” function to display the text inside or outside the circle.

3. Scale font in perspective

For dynamic or quirky effects:

  1. Select the desired text or an already placed text form
  2. Activate the selection tool via the yellow box
  3. Click on “Handles”
  4. Select one of the available deformation templates (e.g. “Perspective”, “Wave”, “Arc Top”)
  5. Drag the control points to influence the shape
  6. Confirm the transformation

This function allows you to distort the text into a trapezoidal shape, for example – ideal for modern labels or 3D-like embroidery effects.

Save font as embroidery file
To ensure that the embroidery file can be read by any embroidery machine, fix the stitches after editing and export the embroidery file in the desired file format.

4. Common sources of error

Text is cut off:
Make sure the circle or envelope is large enough. Paths that are too small will result in unreadable characters.

Embroidery preview differs greatly from the original:
If the text is heavily deformed, always test the 3D preview or do a test stitch.

Text cannot be moved:
Check if you are still in envelope edit mode – if necessary, exit “Edit Points”.

5. Tips for clean embroidery results

  • Choose clear sans-serif fonts for curved fonts
  • Reduce the character size for tight curves
  • For patch designs, use an additional border for optical stability
  • Always test heavily distorted fonts on sample material
