On September 26th and 27th, 2025, we celebrated a real highlight at our Hamburg store: the Make ma! Sewing Machine Festival . Admission was free – and yet priceless, because the atmosphere, the workshops, and the encounters made the weekend something truly special.
Numerous visitors from Hamburg and far beyond, including many long-time Make ma! fans, took the opportunity to be inspired in free workshops, try out new things, and exchange ideas about sewing and machine embroidery. Amidst tents, hand-painted signs, music, fries, waffles, and Tobi's PingPing food truck, there was a real festival atmosphere.
Our mission was to show that sewing and embroidery are anything but dusty – but rather creative, youthful, versatile, and accessible to everyone. The workshops reflected exactly that:
- Friederike (Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/clacavi/ ) impressed with creative projects using the new PFAFF creative expression 750 .
- Marit let beginners playfully discover the feeling of sewing in hands-on workshops with the Bernette B35 .
- Schmetz impressively demonstrated how big the difference between the right needles can be – a real aha moment for many.
- Veritas brought concentrated sewing power to Hamburg with its Power Stitch series.
- And thanks to Sabine from Sulky by Gunold, the guests received in-depth expertise on yarns and stabilizers, which immediately made them want to try it out.
Besides the technology, the focus was also on togetherness: families, friends, and our team poured their hearts into the festival – from setting up tents and selling tokens to serving fries, waffles, and providing advice in the store. Special thanks also go to all our manufacturer partners who believe in our vision and supported us with the grand raffle benefiting the animal welfare organization Veto .
2025 is an anniversary year for us: 100 years of Make ma GmbH – founded in 1925 by Marit's great-grandfather. We are incredibly grateful to have been able to continue this story with such a vibrant, modern festival.
We want to thank everyone who was there – and to everyone who missed it: you really missed out! But don't worry: we'll be sharing more about this unforgettable weekend soon on the Social Club Podcast .

A huge thank you to the hundreds of visitors who made our first sewing machine festival in Hamburg so special! 💛 Two days full of workshops, inspiration, and festival vibes – we're still overwhelmed.
A huge thank you also goes to Sven , who captured some wonderful moments for us. Out of respect for our guests' privacy, we're only publishing pictures where no people are directly recognizable – but the atmosphere still comes across, we promise! ✨
